More "Cerebus In Hell?" Parody Covers!

BENJAMIN HOBBS:
Here are a few more new parody covers I've been working on...

I made another version of the Giant Sized Cerebus with green in place of the interior comic, but I think it works better with a CIH? comic. (In the final version, I imagine the interior comic they're standing against will be the first strip printed in that issue. )

I'm pretty sure Gary already did a version of the Batvark cover, but this is my take on it. If Dave is interested in using it, I'll add some frames around the Dore images. (Similar to the original cover.)

Eddie suggested doing a parody of the Nick Fury, Agent of...S.H.I.E.L.D. number 4. What I came up with is extremely different than what he suggested. But here it is Eddie!

Wow! These all look amazing. Great work, Benjamin.

Ha! These are so good. The covers could be their own series.

Haha! That's way better than my suggestion Benjamin (and much more artful as well!). Amazing job on all of those!

Oh man. TEARS. Tears.

Mail these to Dave! You've got the next year's worth of issues covered!

Sound sound screaming babies - lol! The 'For The Love of Cerebus' made me chuckle as well. Nice job!

Benjamin, these are great!

Not that it really matters at this stage, but there are two mistakes: On the Giant Size cover, in Cerebus' second balloon, it should be "CEREBUS IS NOT A DOG!" Take out the AN. And on the BATVARK cover, if you squeeze the Y and the T in EVERYTHINGS closer together, you can fit in an apostrophe where it should be, to make it EVERYTHING'S.

Hope this helps. You are a very clever designer.

BTW, of what is that last cover a parody?

Last one's of a comic called Immortal Iron Fist, from 5-10 years back (I'm not even sure at this point). Not sure if there was a specific one, but here's the first cover:

Jeff-- the extra "AN" is the joke! The perfect joke. Seriously. that's the part that made me cry.

Lee-Thanks! Glad you like them

Carson- A series of covers would be fun. Or maybe variant covers. Dave could put out the same issue with twenty different covers and then collect them into a big book of variant covers like Marvel did with Star Wars. Of course it would be more confusing, because each variant would have a different title.

Eddie! glad you like the cover! You were right, the black and white made it the perfect cover to play with.

Sean- Happy to bring you to tears. TEARS. Although if it actually WAS the extra AN that did it, then I hate to tell you, but I'm not nearly as funny as you think. Jeff is right, it was a typo. I've sent the files to Sandeep to show to Dave, but I may send physical copies as well.

Margaret- "Surround sound" still makes me laugh when I see it too. I'm fond of 'For the Love of Cerebus.' Partially because it utilizes the severally beat up cover of a book I've had for years. I like the aesthetic of beat up old books being used as the covers of newly printed books.

Jeff- I noticed the extra 'An' right after I sent it off. I didn't notice the missing apostrophe. Thanks!

Jeff again- Travis is right, it's the Immortal Iron Fist #6 (Brubaker and Fraction). It's also the cover of the trade if I'm not mistaken.

I think that covers all the comments!

Also, does anyone know if there is an iconic Dr. Who comic cover?

I'm not convinced there is, but I think it could be fun to do a parody called "Dante Who" if there was.

Thanks,
Benjamin Hobbs

Benjamin--Thanks for backing me up. If you're looking for an "iconic" Doctor Who cover to do a parody of, I don't think you could go wrong with Dave's cover for IDW, of all eleven Doctors. Think of it--eleven Dantes!

Plus, room at the bottom for Cerebus and Jingles!

Blockbuster!!!

Jeff- I did consider Dave's eleven Doctor's cover, or one of the other covers Dave did for IDW. (Pre-publication alterations.) But then I worried that it would be to much of a closed circuit reference. (Dave Sim fans would get it. Casual comic people would be confused.) So I may go that direction, but we'll see.
Thanks,
Benjamin
